Civil Engineering

The number of civil engineering design projects carried out by Osborn Lane has increased markedly over the last 10 years.

The biggest increase has been in residential subdivision, mostly in south-east Queensland, to the west of Brisbane. The subdivision work has brought with it some complex road and bridge design, and large scale water supply work, sewerage treatment, and stormwater management. This type of work is carried out in the Warwick Office.

Another type of civil design carried out in the Warwick Office relates to agricultural development. Private dams are a simple example, but developments such as cattle feed lots may require extensive civil engineering design services.

Brisbane Office confines itself to civil design for single lot developments — carparks, hardstands, access roads and stormwater management. With the increasing re-development of inner suburban land, and changing design standards, there is an ever increasing requirement for overland flow studies and on-site water retention.
