Lots of Colour at White Water World

White Water World opened in 2006 as an extension of Dreamworld, at Coomera. The amusement park is based around a wave pool and numerous water slides. It is decorated with an eclectic assortment of brightly coloured fabric structures, many of which were constructed by Copelands+Pickers, with engineering by Osborn Lane. The deck chairs around the wave pool are shaded by an unusual structure with flat fabric laced to a frame of brightly painted hardwood logs. Building with logs is usually simple and primitive, but not when the components have to be pre-manufactured, delivered to site, and assembled without further adjustment. Osborn Lane draftsman Mark Allen produced shop drawings of each log, each one slightly different, with varying diameter and usually not quite straight. |
